[UTAU Engaged]

The genesis of this thread comes from a few things:
1: There are a lot of people out there (some say too many) who only use their own UTAUloid for songs.
2: There really aren't enough original UTAUloid songs out there. Generally, they filter down from the Vocaloids, and never travel in the other direction.
3: With so many UTAUloids out there, it's difficult to separate those that have been worked on and fine-tuned for months from those that were created and tossed aside in the space of a week without doing serious research.
4: Therefore, those who seek to find another UTAUloid to sing with them or create a song with are left stranded, since it's very hard to find a good voice. Similarly, those who have put months of work into their UTAUs may find them ignored by the rest of the fandom, since nobody knows about them.

The power of UTAU is the same of Vocaloid at large; The ability to give those without vocal training a singing voice of their own. UTAU is arguably even better at this than Vocaloid, since it doesn't cost 500 dollars and allows anyone to contribute their voice.

This thread is intended to create a ranking of those UTAUloids with the best voices via mass vote, thus providing a way for those creating music to find a suitable voice quickly and easily, and those creating polished voices to find composers to use them.

Here are the rules:
1: You may not vote for your own UTAUloid. You may advertise it, but you must clearly state that it is your own UTAU.
2: You may, however, vote for any number of other UTAUloids. The more the better!
3: UTAUloids voted for must have their voicebank available to the public. No unreleased voices, please!
4: Flaming is not allowed. In matters of taste, there can be no argument.
5: Please try to keep your opinion of the character separate from your opinion of their voice. I realize this is harder than it sounds, but try to vote for vocal quality and not for characters you like.
6: Please state whether each voicebank is encoded in Kana, Romaji, or both. This isn't required, but it'll save me work. A link to their voicebank download and/or a video of one of their songs might be nice as well if you want to get other people to vote for your favorites.

I'll update this post weekly with the current standings in each category. My votes have already been done, but I'll post individual videos/ critiques of each UTAUloid I've added over time.
Please, don't hesitate to vote for UTAUs that have already been voted for! The whole point of this thread is for you to find some UTAUloids that you like and didn't already know about.

I don't wanna be bashing this... But a ranking of voices seems to be a bit... Hard? Because opinions on voices are based on your personal taste. The main problem with creating original songs is making them in Japanese for the overseas community. Not finding voices. I have like, 7 songs here, and I find my voices quickly. But the translating part is the thing that I get stuck on.

A voice ranking naturally won't give the best results for everyone, but the point is simply to have an idea of what voices are most reccomended.
This is more intended to provide a starting point for people looking for new sounds, and help everyone find new voices.

For example: I didn't know about Lorelei until just now, and after listening to her I heartily agree that she deserves a place. (and am downloading her VB as we speak.) So the thread is doing what it's supposed to do already!

As for the translation... yeah, that kind of slipped my mind. Honestly, now that I consider it more, it's unlikely this thread will help composers all that much. I might want to edit the OP to remove that bit.

Oh! May I also suggest Subarashiine Kurumi? She has a nice bank/voice but as she is encoded only in Kana, i can't use her myself. She reminds me of Meiko in terms of voice leveling. Though, I'm so totally itching to redesign her, even though that is impossible.

I want to recommend Hachi Makune, Seun Kanagirikowane and Seon Houka, as well as Yoko Itone, Niku Supune, Iori Yamatouchi and Wichiko Wawon.

Hachi and Yoko are romaji with kana aliases
Seun and Seon are Romaji with kana in their act1, but kana in their act2
Niku, Iori and Wichiko are kana.

OP has been updated. I'm starting to think we might want more information on these voicebanks, so that people can choose more easily... but then we'd start turning into UTAU Wiki. Hopefully a voice sample from Youtube will be enough.
I've counted Seun and Seon as Kana-only because that's their most recent release, if that's okay with you. I don't want to have to update things in two different places if they get another vote- it's just too messy otherwise.

Hey, just sayin', maybe you should make a form that has to be filled out if the suggested UTAUloid isn't already there, with the information you need so you can just copypaste, without having to try and find things each time... While still having required information ^^
